Big Taste. Scarce Options.

After returning from a trip, inevitably, people quickly ask the question, "how was the food?"  Which is natural, and I love food, so I really don't mind discussing entrees until I can almost retaste them.
But Barcelona was sort of a let down for a foodie.
Delicious but limited is how I have come to describe the city's cuisine.
{And because I had the amazing pleasure of visiting the city 2x this summer, I actually did notice the lack of options.}

Being my favorite menu option, I pretty much overdosed on gazpacho.

Fell in love with paella.

Almost drowned in sangria and fresh seafood.

And of course, ate my weight in bravas potatoes, tortillas, croquettes and other tapas.

Once in a while, I chased my favs down with some white bread spread with pureed tomatoes.

Creeping at Guell.

Shortly after Justin claimed he could do gymnastic skills like a small, body-less 14 year old, he disappeared from the group.

  We found him a few feet away taking secret pictures of some small children playing soccer.
{Insert Susan and I laughing hysterically.}

Gushing at Guell.

Me:  I feel like the street performers are so much cooler here than elsewhere.  I mean, they have really good music and look at that girl doing gymnastics.
Justin:  That's not that cool.  I can do that too.
Susan and I:  No you can't.  That's pretty good.
Justin:  Yes. I. can.

Inspired by Justin, I attempted my own cool gymnastics move at Park Guell.

Unsurprisingly, I made no money, and I got bored after about 10 seconds.

So Raise Your Glass, Barcelona.

The first night we arrived in Spain, there was some serious partying going on to celebrate our arrival and/or Spain's win of Euro 2012 against Italy.

As you can {barely} see {due to poor quality ipod footage}, Spanish-style celebrating means walking down the crowded Las Ramblas, buying 1 euro beers from random men on the street, watching fireworks light up the sky, listening to honks of horns from the crowded streets, chanting soccer cheers, draping yourselves in flags, getting crazy with your family, and dressing like Van Halen.
Already hearting Barcelona!
